This invention relates to foot rests and refers more particularly to foot railsoi the swinrjinnly niounted type.

l. In a toot-rest, a support, an expansible membern means 'for rigidly securing said e`X- pansibl'e member to said support, a foot rail telescopically engaging said member, and means independent ot' saidy first mentioned means for expanding said member for detaehably securing said rail thereto.

2. In 'a 'foot rest, a support, a longitudinally slit expansible sleeve secured to said suplill .f said port7 a. foot railtelescopically engaging` sleeve a shoulder lrormed on said sleeve and means extending' throughsaid support and engaging said shoulder for eXpLandingv said sleeve to detaehabl7 secure said rail thereto.

3. ln a foot rest, the combination with a toot rail and a. support therefor7 of a tubular member projecting` from one side ot' said support carrying said leil, means for securing` said member to said support, including a tongue at one end of the member projecting through the support, and means for concealing said securing` means.

4. In a Jfoot rest, the combination with a toot rail and a support therefor, of an expansible member projecting` `trom the support and telescopically engaQing;` Jdie rail, an element for expanding said member to secure said rail thereto, means forsecuring` said member to said support. means for corr cealing' said securing means, and means for actuating` said expanding' element and holding said concealing' means in position.

5. ln a foot rest, the combination with a foot rail and a support therefor, of an eX- pansible member projecting from the support and telescopic'ally engaging` the rail. a Wedge adapted to expand said member to secure said rail thereto. means 'orseeuring said member to said support, means for concealing' said securing means. and means for actuatino,` said expanding Wedge and holding said concealing' means in position.
