Neville Brody is a graphic designer, typographer and art director. He was born in Southgate, England. He studied graphic design In the 1970s. During the 1980s he first made his way into the industry of the British Independent music scene through his album cover designs. As an Art Director he began experimenting with a new visual language, A mixture of visual and architectural elements which he used in 'The face magazine'. His work in/on the magazine is what gave him, his well known reputation as a world leading graphic designer. He gained publicity through his original and advanced experimentation of combining typefaces into graphical design. He developed his own typefaces and incorporated them into his digital type designs. creating his part into the typography through graphical design of typefaces. In 1987, Neville founded 'The Studio' in London and he has received a large amount of recognition for his unique graphic designs. Today he continues to focus on his graphic designs but also, continues to create original and striking typefaces. He has contributed largely to the graphics and typography world with his experimental and published work. Neville has created a large collection of well known typefaces.
His work has been commissioned by major organisations: Japanese companies, Mens Bigi and paco, Berlins Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Greenpeace and The Dutch postal service. Personally I find his work intriguing because of the layers and the mixtures of lettering and images. The use of colours and experimentation pieces in which he has created. All of his work is innovative as he has created his own typefaces which are incorporated into his work weather that be a poster or album covers. He has a very unique style of work weather it be through his graphic design, his typography and typefaces or a mixture of all his original styles. Including his ever advancing and recognition of his work.
