Fishing in Madeira Beach

Madeira Beach is the archetypal Gulf Coast beach town, with white sandy shores, clear warm waters, and superb fishing. And if you’re not sure where to cast your line, you’ll have plenty of Madeira Beach fishing charters to lead the way. From Boca Ciega Bay to the Gulf of Mexico, you’ll enjoy a great bite wherever you go.

Look for Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Permit, Flounder, and Sheepshead on the flats, and don’t forget about Snook and Bonefish. From May–July, head to Tampa Bay and enjoy excellent Tarpon action that might land you a trophy.

Head out through John’s Pass and into the Gulf to fish the nearshore reefs, brimming with Snapper, Grouper, Porgy, Grunt, Tripletail, and Hogfish. Deep sea fishing here is different to what you might expect. You’ll travel 30–100 miles out, and your main target will be huge bottom fish. A wide array of big Grouper and Snapper are all on the menu. Want more? Trolling for Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, and Blackfin Tuna never gets dull.

Local captains have been guiding trips for years, so saying they’re experts is an understatement. Half day trips are perfect for a relaxed and productive day out with your family and friends. Full day expeditions that will take you well into federal waters are the best fit for anglers in the mood for catching something impressive.

Whether you’re organizing an active vacation, or you’re looking to get your fill of top-notch fishing, Madeira Beach should be at the top of your list!

Rules & Regulations

Fishing licenses are not required aboard registered Madeira Beach fishing charters. Seasonality for different species changes year on year and is different in state and federal waters, so check with your captain when would be the best time to target a particular species. If you’re fishing solo, know that you’re in charge of buying your own license ahead of time.
