James Piccoli from Team Elevate KHS wins the Tour of Utah Prologue
James Piccoli from Montreal takes the biggest win of his career off the back of his GC win at the Tour of Gila, denying Lawson Craddock of his first career win
The Snowbird Resort hosted the opening short time trial for the first time. The 3.3-mile race against the clock went vertical in Little Cottonwood Canyon as it followed Bypass Road to snake around The Cliff Lodge. Once back on Little Cottonwood Creek Road, each cyclist had to put on the afterburners for the 1.5-mile descent to the finish line.
Altitude was a factor, as the time trial started at 2,450m above sea level below the snow covered peaks in August!
The fastest early time was set by Kyle Murphy (Rally UHC Cycling) in a time of 8m 49s until Education First's Lawson Craddock went faster by 6.3 seconds.
It looked as if Craddock was the victor, until James Piccoli went 5 seconds faster than Craddock, the Elevate KHS rider smashed it out the park. This comes of the back of his win at the Tour of Gila.
