beginning to think I don't have carberryi anthias

So I saw this picture today on liveaquaria's site and it looks exactly like my anthias which I thought was a male. I ordered 3 carberryi anthias from liveaquaria but it definitely looks more like this fish they recently added..

Evansi Anthias (Mirolabrichthys evansi)

here's mine: what I thought to be Carberryi Anthias
(Nemanthias carberryi)

and the other 2 look like this

what do you think?

I think you're right. Carberryis (at least my trio) have an obvious diagonal yellow stripe just below the eye and the yellow does not extend the full length of the dorsal area. I'm sure yours are Evans. Both are beautiful fish, but I think the Evans may get a bit bigger.

"The Evansi Anthias can be difficult to maintain and is not appropriate for the inexperienced aquarist."

I just hope I can get them all to eat pellets so they have a fair chance! This is my first tank!! says they are moderate-difficult. So far, just the male looks thin and doesn't eat with much enthusiasm, but the 2 females are ok.

any other thoughts?

If they are Evansi they love nutramar ova and cyclopeeze. However you may just have that particular color variation of carberyii. I doubt that you will get them to eat pellets, however.

Yes, and either should be fed at least 4-5 X daily. Pellets are not a good food choice for most Anthias, and all fish need more variety.

Those are cary's they have a violet dorsal fin, evans have a yellow dorsal fin

That's the weird part, the one female is eating pellets like it's her job! she is the plump one in the 2nd picture. The other 2 won't touch the stuff. They love mysis shrimp as well but go crazy for cyclops.

I think you're right, whenever I get involved in picture IDs, I'm usually wrong. I must have spent a half hour last night watching mine. But, I can think of a million things that are worse than watching fish while enjoying a Beefeater martini or two. (or Cork Gin, if you can find it)

Martinis are good. Margaritas are not bad either. Watching fish accompanied by one of the preceding is definitely all right.

that is what I thought. I couldn't figure out why this one looked WAY different than the other 2...

That being said, what will the hierarchy look like? Who will become male? will my biggest female carberryi become male? This could be interesting...
