Kalverstraat

Kalverstraat

The Kalverstraat in Amsterdam is located parallel to the Rokin. A busy shopping street that has quickly become the most expensive in all of the Netherlands. In fact, back in 2009, it was rated as the 17th most expensive street in the world measured by rent prices! If you find that boutique shops at Leidsestraat aren’t exactly your type of favorite shopping experience and you prefer more retail chain stores and higher end stores, then Kalverstraat is definitely the place for you!

Beginning at Dam Square and ending roughly 750 meters down near the Munttoren Tower, the street is long enough to enjoy nearly an entire day of Amsterdam Shopping experience. The street is about one kilometer long and has 15 side streets. With a location right in the heart of the city, it is easily accessible by public transport, however, chances are that you can simply walk there if your accommodation is nearby.

Enjoy a morning of visiting one of the many cafes located on the street and once the other shopping stores open, get your day started and ready to fill your bags with new clothes, jewelry and of course shoes! In between shopping, check out the several fantastic national monuments like Amsterdam Museum, that are located there and before you know it, your entire day will have been spent wandering around this famous shopping street!
