Tour De France 2012 Live: Sky Procycling Continues Dominance Down the Stretch

Sky Procycling has used the 2012 Tour De France to establish itself as the best team in cycling. 

With Mark Cavendish's stage 18 victory, Sky Procycling not only lays claim to the top two spots in the overall classification of the tour, they also own the most stage victories of any team.

Sky's dominance has been displayed throughout the race. Team leader Bradley Wiggins claimed the yellow jersey in the seventh stage, and he hasn't looked back since.

Even if he did look back, he would see another Sky rider directly behind him. Christopher Froome has had second place firmly in his grasp since the tenth stage and has been consist from the second spot.

Aside from the dominance in the overall classification, Sky has done well with sprints too. The team has won four sprints, the second highest in the tour.

The team who is first in sprints, Liquigas-Cannondale, has won seven. Most of the credit for that goes to sprinter Peter Sagan. 

Take Sagan out of the equation, and Sky has dominated sprints too.

A glance at the leaderboard for the green jersey highlights another area of Sky superiority. While different teams have one or two riders in the top ten, Sky has four riders in the top ten, occupying spots 4-7 with Froome, Wiggins, Edvald Boasson Hagen and Mark Cavendish.

With Bradley Wiggins seemingly in control of the yellow jersey, Sky procycling will have the champion they envisioned producing when they the team formed in 2009. With the team's overall domination in 2012, they should be able to close out the race and establish themselves as the favorites next year.
