They wild they are found in the open water, near rocks, where they primarily feed on plankton. The territorial males prefer caves in the rocks for there spawning choices. These fish will appreciate some caves and rock work in the aquarium. They prosper on the Red Zebra Stampede and supplemented with the Zebra Pasture or Hippocampus Green to provide the spirulina and plant material so vital for mbuna health. They appreciate the addition of a quality aquarium or Cichlid Salt at the rate of 1 teaspoon per gallon of water.
