Description

Es ist das bekannteste Werk des Bildhauers Peter Lenk, die »Imperia« an der Konstanzer Hafeneinfahrt, aufgestellt 1993. Die Figur aus Beton ist etwa 10 m hoch und 18 Tonnen schwer und dreht sich alle drei Minuten um die eigene Achse. Die Statue soll an das Konstanzer Konzil von 1414 - 1418 und an die Mätressenherrschaft, die der Kirche damals von Kritikern vorgeworfen wurde, erinnern und stellt eine Dame vom horizontalen Gewerbe dar. Auf ihren Händen trägt sie zwei nackte Herren: rechts den Kaiser Sigismund und links Papst Martin V.

Initiiert wurde das Kunstwerk von den Bodensee-Schiffsbetrieben (1993 noch DB) und dem Fremdenverkehrsverein Konstanz und war heftig umstritten.
