South America; Three-striped dwarf cichlids are normally found in Brazil and Paraguay.
Sexing
Males will be slightly larger than the females and display a blue body colouration. The females will normally display a duller yellow colouration.

The expected life span for Apistogramma trifasciata is 3-5 years.
Short description
This cichlid is very sensitive to water changes, small regular changes should be performed and the quality must be kept high. Three-striped dwarf cichlids prefer a planted tank and are peaceful to other tank mates.
