Pan Con Tomate Recipe

Pan Con Tomate Recipe

Another week, another tapa and pan con tomate is probably the most delicious and easiest one out there to make. It’s also extremely cheap which is a plus because it is basically bread, tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and a little bit of salt. Pretty much everything you can find in your house.

This recipe somewhat reminds me of something my dad used to do when I was a child. He would always pick us up from my grandma’s house after work and when he would get there, he would always have a slice of cuban bread with tomatoes, onions, salt and a little bit of garlic. But now I see why he would always do this after having pan con tomate!

How do you make pan con tomate?

Pan con  tomate is extremely easy to make, just follow these easy steps:

  • Toast your bread: Preheat your oven to 350F. Cut a French baguette in half and place on a baking tray. Allow the bread to toast in the oven for about 5 minutes, until it is slightly golden and crunchy.
  • Make your tomato topping: While the oven is preheating and the bread is toasting, cut your tomatoes into quarter size pieces. Using a food grater, grate your tomatoes over a medium size bowl. Grate until you reach the skin of the tomato. Next grate your garlic cloves into the grated tomato. After, add salt and stir. Set aside.
  • Assemble your tapa: Once your bread is done toasting, remove from the oven. Drizzle olive oil on top of the bread. Spread the tomato mix on top and serve!
