Mourey wins the Cross Vegas. 3rd win in the US for him, I think.

Last year, I remember Tim van Nuffel saying that the Cross Vegas was just a big show, where anybody could take part, while Sun Prairie was real competition. :D

And isn't grass artificial? Well I think it would be tough to find true grass round Vegas.

Nys said before the race that the heat (above 20°C) was not in his favour. It was the first time I'd seen riders allowed to take a drink at the pit stop without changing bikes.

The route has been modified since last year but not the way I said it was. Will come back to it.

I was there. If you're interested, my pics are coming soon.;)

Great find, Daotec. Nice to see a Canadian cross ... of which I don't know any contender at all !!! :D (oh yeah Frattini was in Sun Prairie, I think)

DT, is it so new? I've been following cross carefully for 3 seasons now and I remember that in 2007/2008 I already noticed with some friends of mine that World Cup events were way overrated, while other ranking events in the Low Countries were reduced to virtually nothing, almost equivalent to USGP series.

But I don't think it matters so much. Perhaps at the start of the season, some of the best may have a bad start position due to the UCI ranking but after a few weeks, you'll always find them in the front line.

Crosses like Druivencross of Overijse don't need a good UCI point system to have a great field, anyway.

It is new. They downgraded the value of the world cup by A LOT, and I mean really a lot
And they upgraded all C1/C2 crosses by A LOT

And since an American C1/C2 is as much as an european C1/C2, scoring in those american crosses brings you high up the rankings
which is bullsh.t because these americans dont even crack a top 15 in the europe fields.

Didnt you read the article about it on Sport.be?

They have changed the calculation but I'm willing to bet that within 2 weeks the rankings look very different. The US season starts and finishes earlier than the European season so the rankings are US weighted at the moment. As you rightly say, the male US riders can't break the top 15-20 in the European races so apart from the minor inconvenience of acting as a rolling road block for a couple of laps, the real protagonists can get on with racing for the positions. Prediction: no male US riders in the first 10 grid positions at WC round 3 in November.

OK Haven't read that article but just had a look at the UCI ranking. For sure, JPow being 2nd is quite a big joke.

However I'm still convinced that World Cup events were overrated these last few seasons. They are certainly not so much more important as GvA or Superprestige, far from that. However USGP series being equal to Superprestige or GvA is a joke but that's not new.

And why don't they make the calculation over the last 52 weeks like the ATP ranking?

Don't worry, the JPow thing won't last. The US Season is front-weighted vs Europe, so the riders that do well in the US will show high early, but Europe will catch up soon.

Great for Simunka. It was the Simunek Memorial. Hope it was not fixed. But no matter, good for his mind.

Styby's first loss of the season.

Chainel, 3rd in Tabor. And not present in Plzen. These Frenchies !!!!
