Broken collarbone for Corné van Kessel

This Wednesday, Corné van Kessel sustained a collarbone fracture in a crash during the weekly training session with Tormans Cyclo Cross Team in Lichtaart. The Dutchman was succesfully operated in the hospital of Herentals in the afternoon and will soon be able to resume training.

« During the warm up I lost control of my bike in a section I’ve done so many times. Bart Wellens accompanied me to the hospital in Herentals, where a collarbone fracture was diagnosed. The consequences of this simple crash are unfortunate. Last weekend’s fifth place in Meulebeke showed my progression towards the most important races. I want to thank doctor Toon Claes for his fast and efficient help. After this successful operation, I’ll do everything I can to return in the mud as soon as possible! »

« Corné van Kessel sustained a complex distal clavicula fracture following his crash. Osteosynthesis was applied in the hospital of Herentals, which will enable him to resume training soon on the rollers and on the road. We expect Corné to be able to return on his cyclocross bike within a period of four to six weeks. »
