bigquotesWHAT. A. RACE. The UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup 2020 finished with a nail-bitting spectacle second to none. At the end of the day the finish area listened to La Marseillaise twice, thanks to Marine Cabirou & Loïc Bruni who took the very top of the podium & secured France a pole position on the global MTB scene heading into the 2021 season.  All that compression activation system front and rear might had some influence for not bottoming out at all

Special knob was NOS of course

Enlighten me. I'm old - NOS?

 @SHREDWORX: is that a supra?!

 Dante Silva winning run?

That's what I was hoping for

We need more information on that special knob. Bruni literally won the race in that last bit and I believe he wasn't just pedalling harder, but probably more efficient as well. There is surely some connection to the shock cover as well...

that, and his mate sprinting next to him on the road, literally screaming him foreward. Very damn cool sight!

It never ceases to amaze me that after months of riders preparing their strength and endurance, manufacturers developing advanced tech, teams figuring out next level setups, testing, line choice, variable factors, odd crap, etc... it's still within seconds or sometimes hundreds of a second. In any side by side racing like pump track or BMX or something, you might adapt and push based on the competition but this is one person at a time by themselves

I have thought about this, and dh doesnt seem to favour one body type, you can have someone who is 6'3 on the podium with someone who is 5'7" separated by less than a second.

In a world where Matt Walker would have been a few places back (let's say 5th instead of 3rd), Bruni's lockout might very well have been the difference between WC winner and 2nd. This might be setting a new trend.

What world is this? Walker has been the most consistent rider in this short season - that’s why he won.

@davechopoptions: I wonder how Troy 'Consistent' Bronsan is feeling about the above....
  • 6 0
@GregorFuk: 7th, 5th, 8th, 6th is indeed consistent, but 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd is a better kind of consistency. And that’s without considering the qualification times where Matt was again super consistent.

@davechopoptions: I was thinking historically over the longer term when I made my comment.

Seems to be very little about the amount of flat tyres in the top section of track. Not covered on camera but for a track with not many rocks it had alot of punctures over the 2 races. Were racers running lighter casing or pressure?

Both Matt and Marine were super consistent in every race and even qualifiers - Both really deserve the overall. Amazing to see the Goat totally killing it!

@twozerosix every rider had that. Many of the coaches were on ebikes on that road screaming at racers on their team to pedal harder

 Awsome race guys and Girls!

Such an awesome race. I hope the World Cup returns to this venue. Seemed like a good all around track.

 Fast AF. Good race

 Marine Cabirou!!!!!

She should be rocking a tee with a big caribou on the front. That way it would justify me always saying Caribou instead of Cabirou in my head.

@rrolly: she's absolutely caribou in my house

 Amazing race.

Can we get a different announcer now please? I hate being yelled at constantly for multiple hours.
