- Weight is the force generated by the gravitational attraction of the earth on the airplane. Weight is a natural force that is created by gravity. It is possible to measure the acceleration of gravity of a free falling object. This shows us that the object will fall without the right amount of lift which is created by the thrust.(see thrust). "Weight is a force that is always directed toward the center of the earth. The magnitude of the weight depends on the mass of all the airplane parts, plus the amount of fuel, plus any payload on board" (nasa,2008).

Weight is the counter force to lift, and the larger the plane the more weight, which then means larger planes create a lot more lift than small planes.
