Algeria: Hordeum murinum is a ruderal species (roadsides, wastelands, rubble) and a fairly common cereal-growing plant. It is a frequent species of winter cereal systems (favored by the contribution of fertilizers) of the northern part of the country but never abundant. It grows on all types of soils as long as they are rich enough in nitrogen.
