Description
This is a Borage.
Borage is drought tolerant, a dynamic accumulator and ornamental. It blooms summer to early fall with blue and purple flowers. USDA Hardiness Zones: 6-9.
Bees love the flowers of this beautiful plant. If you let it go to seed, other borage plants will return year after year. The edible flowers are beautiful accents in a salad and have a light flavor reminiscent of a mild spicy cucumber. Although the leaves and flowers contain trace amounts of liver cancer causing pyrrolizidine alkaloids, many people use the leaves as an accent vegetable in soup, ravioli, stirfries, or teas.
