CICHLID
Cichlids are fish from the family Cichlidae in the order Cichliformes. They are one of the largest vertebrate families in the world. They are most diverse in Africa and South America.
Maintenace:
Because of their temperament and their size, it is important to keep them
in large tanks: 200 liters for the smaller species and at least 400 liters for the largest.
Water conditions:
Cichlid from ThienDuc Aquarium accommodates well to tap water, after chlorine treatment.
Range of pH: 6.5 – 8.0
Water temperature: 26˚C – 28˚C
Diet:
Cichlid accepts various types of food, both frozen and live food. They can be fed one or twice per day, feed them small portions which they are able to consume within 3 minutes. Do not overfeed or leave food leftover in the tank, as it causes ammonia and nitrite and becomes toxic.
Behaviour:
Cichlids are territorial keepers and belligerence. When adding other fish to the tank, it is important to beware of the size. The fish size should be the same as cichlids can become prey for other bigger fish, but a bullier for other smaller ones.
