Description

For the 36th edition, the commune of Laiz (La Veyle Communauté de Communes) will host the start of the inaugural stage, where the peloton will visit the entire western side of the département, between Bresse and Dombes.

As usual, this first stage should be hotly contested, motivating the riders before two more rugged stages. Will the attackers be able to outwit the sprinters in Bourg-en-Bresse (Grand Bourg Agglomération), the prefecture of the Ain department?

At the gateway to the Bresse region, close to Mâcon and the Bourg-en-Bresse conurbation, the Communauté de communes de la Veyle is delighted to welcome the start of this 36th edition of the Tour de l’Ain to Laiz. This charming commune has also been awarded the “Terre de Jeux 2024” label, helping to promote the benefits of sporting activities.

A land of gastronomy, the Communauté de communes de la Veyle lies at the heart of the breeding area for the famous Bresse poultry. It also boasts some of the world’s most famous restaurateurs, including Georges Blanc, who has the oldest Michelin-starred restaurant in the world. You can discover the region’s rich heritage and unspoilt natural spaces on foot or by bike, along country lanes that will take you as far as the Base de loisirs de Cormoranche-sur-Saône. It’s the ideal place to recharge your batteries, whatever the season, and is very popular in summer for its lake and its many activities, but it’s also appreciated by walkers, joggers and fishermen for its tranquility the rest of the year. Since 2023, the Leisure Center has been just a few pedal strokes from the Voie Bleue, the route linking Luxembourg to Lyon along the Saône.
