DAVIDSON, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell in a 5-2 contest at Davidson on Sunday at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
Sydney Bly and
Raegan Mitchell were able to start off the contest by claiming the 6-4 doubles match against Emma Heiderscheit and Olivia Hopper. Davidson responded by earning the next two doubles matches over
Juliana Craft and
Lauren Thomson, 7-6 and then to
Arina Babkova and
Alexandra Dodashev, 7-6 for the Wildcats to gain the doubles point.
Davidson was able to continue its streak by earning the first three singles points to clinch the match. However, Babkova came back to claim the third set battle, 5-7, 6-2, 10-4 over Heiderscheit on court one to put the Spartans on the board in the match. Davidson's Bryson Langford claimed the next singles point on court five over Craft in a back-and-forth three set contest, 6-4, 2-6, 10-5. Thomson closed out the day by claiming a 6-3, 6-4 singles point over Hopper on court six to make the final match score, 5-2 in favor of the Wildcats.
