The 2012 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships will take place in Saalfelden, Austria at the Leogang Bikepark.

From Aug. 29 to Sept. 9 2012, international athletes in downhill, four-cross, cross-country and trials will travel to Saalfelden-Leogang. Leogang was a stop on the World Cup in 2010 for gravity events and will again host downhill and four-cross in 2011. A cross-country track is now being developed.

“The World Cup, which for the first time this season took place in Leogang received great feedback from all sides and I’m truly confident that the Worlds will be extremely successful too,” says Pat McQaid, president of the UCI.

The 2011 mountain bike worlds will be held in Champery, Switzerland. The 2011 schedule features 10 rounds, including seven for cross-country and downhill (one more than in 2010) and six for 4-cross.

Nove Mesto Na Morave in Czech Republic is a new host on the 2011 calendar.It will welcome round six of the cross-country competition on Aug. 13 and 14, 2011.

Meanwhile the hosts making a comeback to the World Cup series after a break in 2010 are:

• The opening round triple event – XC, DH and 4X — in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa on April 23 and 24;

• Mont Ste Anne, Canada, which took a break from the circuit in 2010 to concentrate on hosting the UCI World Championships. It will host a triple event in 2011 on July 2 and 3.

• La Bresse, France, which will play host to DH and 4X on Aug. 6 and 7.

In 2010, Leogang, Austria made its debut on the Mountain Bike World Cup Calendar. It is back in 2011, with a  DH and 4X event on June 11 and 12.

The 2011 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup calendar will also stop off at Dalby Forest in the UK, Offenburg Germany, Fort William, UK, and Windham, New York. The World Cup series will draw to a close with a triple event in Val Di Sole, Italy on Aug. 20 and 21.
