Salvia Nemorosa - Violettkönigin

Salvia Nemorosa - Violettkönigin. Commonly known as a woodland violet sage or salvia. It is an erect clump forming showy perennial atop tiny reddish-purple bracts that bloom June to September. Foliage consists of notched, wrinkled green-gray leaves that are fragrant if bruised or crushed. Very easy to grow and care for in their preferred conditions, which is moist gravely or sandy soils with good drainage. Attracts Hummingbirds, Butterflies and Bees as well as other beneficial pollinators. When trying to keep blooming through the summer, remove spent flowers and give additional water to encourage further growth, being careful not to over water according to weather conditions and climate. If the plants fall over due to excessive humidity, cut down to the basil foliage, just as when flowering is over. The genus name Salvia means “to save and heal” in Latin. It was given that name in honor of the medicinal properties of this family, used over centuries and still used presently by herbalists and naturopaths.  The most common and popular uses for these plants are cut flowers, along borders, butterfly gardens, wildflower gardens, cottage gardens and walkways.

I urge anyone buying seed to do their homework on germination, I have not raised and cannot raise many of these plants as I am sub-tropics here in St Augustine, Florida. All seed are NOT alike!  There are so many different factors in germination and not doing a search is throwing your money away. I want everyone to be successful when growing your flowers from seed it is the most rewarding experience in Gardening and you can do it, if you give the seed what it needs to grow. I always check 3 sites of info to choose how I will go about it. It is not hard to do, if you do it right!

SEED GERMINATION TIP!!!!!!!

ONLY GERMINATE A SMALL PORTION AT A TIME.

DON'T PUT ALL YOUR MONKEYS IN A BARREL.

Good Luck and Happy Planting!!!!
