A great thing about the Berkshires is that you can be in Vermont, Connecticut or New York in the blink of an eye. We suggest going out of the way today to the Bennington Museum to see their collection of work by Grandma Moses, as her birthday was September 7.

For the uninitiated, Grandma Moses was a folk artist who painted nostalgic scenes of American life. She started painting in her 70's and was quite famous mid-20th century.

The Bennington Museum has the largest collection of her work. In addition to art, they have some of her early needlework, art supplies and even her apron with authentic paint stains.
