Tour de France: 2019

Weather at the start/finish city of Binche at 1:40 PM, local time: 14C (58F), mostly cloudy, with the wind from the southwest at 13 km/hr (8 mph). 15% chance of rain during the afternoon.

The race: Here's the short report from Team Jumbo-Visma.

Jos van Emden and Timo Roosen have seized the third and fourth place respectively in Binche-Chimay-Binche.

In a rain-dominated race, Team Jumbo-Visma was always in front. At the start of the four local laps, the race broke open. Taco van der Hoorn moved along with a large group of twelve riders who eventually were joined by Van Emden and Roosen’s group.

“I felt really good during the race”, Van Emden said. “The legs were great. I think this is a very good race in a special part of Belgium. Timo was in good position in the last kilometre so I tried to do the lead out for him. Unfortunately, he was not able to succeed, so it suddenly was me who almost won. We could have had a better result, but this third place feels good to me.”
