World Cycling Championships 2020 Martigny: Route road race - women
Saturday 26 September - The women's road race at the Worlds in Martigny serves a route of 124 kilometres with 1,919 vertical metres. The Col de la Petite Forclaz is the race's centerpiece. The 4 kilometres climb at 10.2% is tackled three times and the last time over the summit is with 13 kilometres left to race.

The women clip into their pedals in Aigle. Time trialists will recognize the first part of the route, as they rode the section until Martigny on Monday. After a loop on the east-side of the town the riders enter the finishing circuit of 19.4 kilometres op. This will be raced three times.
The main attraction on the Martigny circuit is the Col de la Petite Forclaz. The ascent begins in Martigny-Croix and rises from an elevation of 503 metres to 909 metres. As the climb is 4 kilometres long the average gradient sits at 10.2%. The first kilometre is relatively easy at 8.8% before the Petite Forclaz kicks it up a notch with ensuing kilometres at 10.8%, 10.5% and again 10.5%.
The riders reach the highest point of the Petite Forclaz before descending back into Martigny-Croix. The finish lies 8 kilometres further on the Rue du Levant in Martigny. This last section is virtually flat.
The road race for women at the Worlds in Martigny starts at 13.55 and the race is expected to finish around 16.45 – both are local times.
