Need PIN number!

I'm trying to set up a wireless network. It tells me to look for the 8-digit PIN number on the sticker on the router, but there isn't one. How can I get the PIN number?

Some Routers have a default PIN.  If you can get into the routers administrative console it will show the pin.

Otherwise you may need to hard reset the router to defaults and login and get the pin.

I would make sure you have the router manufacturers documentation on how to do this BEFORE you reset the router.

The notes below are for more recent Cisco Home routers.

Well the PIN number is Usually on the router itself on the back side and its a 8 digit number if that works well and good.

If that doesn't work.

Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - http://192.168.1.1 and press Enter...
Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...

Click on wireless tab and when check the box for Wi-Fi Protected Setup you find the PIN number.

Its 8 digits but DO NOT PUT THE DASH

EdMartinlll,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You do not mention which router you have that you are trying to get the pin number. Below are some links with information on how to obtain the 8 digit router pin. You could aslo google " how to obtain 8 digit pin number on a linksy/dlink etc router";Add your router name in.
