James Blunt reveals in a book that he tried to grow hallucinogenic figs in Ibiza

The English singer publishes his "non-biography" in which real and fictitious anecdotes alternate

James Blunt has revealed that he spent thousands of pounds on an attempt to grow fruit laced with drugs to produce hallucinogenic fruit. The English singer, 49, makes the revelation in his new book ‘Loosely Based On A Made-Up Story’, which will be released on 26 October, but is available for pre-sale on Amazon now. Blunt apparently bought liquid acid to water the fig trees at his Ibiza home to obtain hallucinogenic figs. However, the story should be taken with caution as the book is “based on a made-up story”.

The artist is deeply rooted on the island, where he owns a house near Santa Gertrudis. The singer, who spends long periods in Ibiza, chose the island to get married.

In his new book he explains some true and false anecdotes for the entertainment of the public, as can be read in the synopsis of the same, so this story, which collects the Daily Mail, could be real or not.

Inspired by real events

The book is inspired by real events, but is not a biography as such. “The truth is that my truth is not the truth, and that’s as honest as I can be.” explains the singer in the summary of his work, “basically, I made this shit up.”

While James Blunt’s “crimes against music are well documented,” he also has some stories that are not, assures the promotional text for this book, loosely based on an invented plot and featuring his “most unbridled anecdotes to date to his amusement (and his parents’ horror) in this much-anticipated non-memoir.”

In it he discusses his questionable Norfolk roots, his eccentric family, his boarding school shenanigans, his military service, his rise to musical stardom and his touring escapades. James thus delves into his life to date.

Family Days For James Blunt In Ibiza

“What do you do when your mother writes angry emails to the future prime minister defending your honor? what does it take to run a male escort agency? And why exactly should you refrain from crowdsurfing?”. These questions are resolved in this “non-autobiography.”

“Tremendously exaggerated” stories

The stories in this book may be “wildly exaggerated in an attempt to impress,” reads the text accompanying the book’s presale.

In one he told of calling his father, who was head of the Air Corps, to rescue him and his troops in Kosovo. James, who was part of the Royal Cavalry , said two Apache helicopters arrived within five minutes. “The soldiers didn’t mind me exercising my privilege too much, they said, ‘Yeah, call him!” wrote the soloist, famous for his song ‘You’re beautiful’.
