Natalie Portman is the new face of Miss Dior Cherie

The actress may not be new to the world of celebrity but her star is shining bright since the premiere for her new movie 'Black Swan' in New York last week and there are even whispers that she could be tipped for an Oscar win for her dark portrayal of a ballerina.

And it's not just her acting career that's going stellar. At a press conference in New York yesterday Natalie Portman stepped out from behind a screen of roses and was revealed as the new face of Dior fragrance, Miss Dior Cherie. She's already been photographed by Tim Walker for the upcoming campaign, and she's also set to star in TV ads for the perfume that have been directed by Sofia Coppola. Apparently the short film features a shot of a white swan - 'It’s subliminal advertising for my film,' said Portman.

Parfums Christian Dior chief Claude Martinez described Portman as 'charismatic and elegant'. However, Portman confessed that she isn't usually a high maintenance girl. 'I’m pretty casual in my beauty routine in my real life,' she said. 'Some might say sloppy.'

After the press conference, Portman headed across town to join John Galliano at the Dior boutique on 57th Street for a star studded bash to celebrate both her signing to the brand and the stores recent refurbishment and reopening. The party attracted model
