Streptocarpus variety Ambra, common name Cape Primrose, is a live, rooted plant growing in a 2.5" wide by 2.5" deep pot. You will receive a plant similar to the starter plants shown in the photos. Flower buds may or may not be present on your young plant. Photos are included showing a closeup of the flower of this variety when properly grown.
Streptocarpus are close relatives to the African Violet in the Gesneriad family. Plant size can vary with each variety, but generally can reach 12 inches high by 18 inches wide. Leaf size and length varies from plant to plant. Suitable for indoor pots and hanging baskets in an eastern exposure. They can bloom year round with strong growth under fluorescent lighting for 15 hours a day. Use a light, porous potting mix and allow plants to dry down between waterings. Wet soil will cause plants to rot. Feed regularly using a well balanced fertilizer with every watering. Ideal temperature is 65 to 75 degrees with a minimum of 50 degrees. They do not like it too hot.
Ambra is a terrific new hybrid from Poland. It features large flowers with white upper lobes, lemon yellow lower lobes with light magenta veining and throat.
