Chic Atmosphere
The Costa Classica is a midsized ship at 723 feet long and 100 feet wide. It can carry about 1,308 passengers and a crew of 590 on its 11 passenger decks. The ship is popular with cruisers who appreciate fine art in a vibrant and chic atmosphere. The Classica has a variety of amenities that make it attractive to singles, couples and families.
Special Features
The Costa Classica has a casino, disco, two swimming pools, four hot tubs, a spa, fitness center, two-level theater, outdoor jogging track, beauty salon, solarium, Wi-Fi connections, chapel, card room and teen club.
Accommodations
boasts 654 well-appointed staterooms. The ship offers a variety of cabin categories, including interior, ocean-view, balcony and 10 suites with balconies. All staterooms are equipped with a shower, mini bar, safe, telephone, hair dryer and satellite TV. Guests can choose their pillow from a "pillow menu."
Cost
, depending on such factors as itinerary, cabin selection and date of travel. On the Costa Classica, passengers can choose from options ranging from a three-night, China-Taiwan-Japan cruise for $799 in an inside cabin or a 14-night, Treasures of the Far East trip for $3,779 in a suite.
Excursion
passenger recommended the Langkawi Island mangrove tour, which was described as "outstanding." This passenger also said the "...walk around Georgetown (Penang) heritage area was fascinating. The beaches at Phuket were great. Pattaya old town red light area was a much cheaper alternative to the slog to Bangkok. At Koh Samui the taxi tour for four (hours) cost U.S. $80, taking in beaches and waterfall. The Malacca river trip cost $3.50 each and was top value."
Dining Experience
can enjoy a sumptuous meal in the main dining room, Tivoli, which has open seating for breakfast and lunch, and two set seating times for dinner. Other options are the La Trattoria buffet, the Pizzeria La Tavernetta and the Il Dolce Amore patisserie. The ship also offers 24-hour room service, and there are nine bars on board.
Maiden Voyage
made its maiden voyage in 1991. It was built as a passenger liner for Costa Cruises by the Italian firm Fincantieri.
