Only a few weeks after announcing the deepening of her Christian Faith and her plans for setting up a 'Happiness Institute' to help counsel people, Elena Udrea, 42, former Romanian Regional Development and Tourism Minister , announced she would stand as an Independent in the forthcoming elections on 11 December 2016.

In the Presidential elections last year Ms Udrea, standing for the PMP, came fourth with 5.2% of the vote.
