TOUR OF CROATIA 2017 ROUTE ANNOUNCED - Six Stages and Two Stages with Mountain Top Finishes

TOUR OF CROATIA WILL BE BROADCAST IN 177 COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE

Tour of Croatia :18th-23rd April 2017

ZAGREB, April 5th 2017 – International cycling race Tour of Croatia will be held for the third consecutive year, from 18-23 April 2017 through six stages on the route longer than 1,000 kilometres all over Croatia. This year’s more demanding edition will host more than 20 teams, including those from the highest rank classification of the World Cycling Organization (UCI).

Once again, Tour of Croatia will start in Osijek on Thursday April 18th and the finish line of the first day will be Koprivnica, after 227 km long route. The entire organization moves then to Trogir, where a new stage of 123km begins on Wednesday morning. This stage could, at the very beginning of the race make a significant difference as the finish is at the 1762 meters second highest Croatian peak - Saint Jure on Biokovo.

Third stage will bring a 236km long race between Imotski and Zadar, while 171 kilometres long fourth stage connects Crikvenica and Umag. 141 kilometres long fifth stage brings new excitement because after start in Poreč, the finish at Učka mountain will be climbed first from the Istrian and then from the Kvarner side.

The last stage, on Sunday April 23rd starts in Samobor, and finishes after 145 kilometres with the traditional “circles” in the City of Zagreb, namely Saint Mark Square, where the official award ceremony will be held.

There are many new features of this year's Tour, so, except new cities along the route, organizers emphasize cooperation with A.S.O. (Amaury Sport Organisation that will distribute TV signal around the world, and add up to a high international visibility, the marketing value of the project and promotion of the Republic of Croatia.

The race will be broadcast live by Croatian National Television (HRT), Eurosport and Eurosport Asia with summaries of the most exciting moments. Furthermore, The Tour of Croatia will be featured by different TV stations all over the world - on 6 continents - Europe, North and South America, Africa and Australia while some of them will broadcast the race live allowing cycling enthusiasts from 177 countries worldwide to enjoy the images of Croatia. Once again the broadcast will be carried out by ISB using special cameras, helicopters and other modern equipment.

Tour of Croatia is one of the most important sports events in Croatia, and with the desire to become an important part of the overall tourist offer and one of the main motives of the further development of cyclo-tourist segment, Tour of Croatia is also a unique tourist product in Croatia, adding to the image of Croatia in the world.
