Etroplus canarensis, the Canara pearlspot or banded chromide, Canara pearlspot cichlid, is an endangered species of cichlid endemic to South Karnataka in India.
It is a much sought out cichlid, and somewhat rare cichlid in aquarium hobby. but by some hobbiest, it is really been hated by them because of their dominant behaviour between them and on other tank mates and they also add that it is a very sensitive fish when the water parameters are slightly different from this fish's requirements. In the recent past, there have been some reports of breeding in captivity.
