Watercolor depicting a vase of upright white tulips in full bloom standing in front of a table with a patterned tablecloth holding a smaller vase or pitcher filled with drooping pink peonies. The composition of the painting is formal, but the flowers themselves have a natural quality that reflects Mackintosh's turn away from the stylized designs of his early career, as seen in his decorations for Hill House (1904) and other architectural projects.
