Dog Constantly Checking if Owner Is OK in Hot Tub Melts Hearts

Dogs would do anything to protect their owners, but one, in particular, has melted hearts on social media after his human revealed how he makes sure she is OK when relaxing in the hot tub.

In a post shared on TikTok in February under the username peentin, the West Highland white terrier can be seen jumping on the side of the hot tub, popping his head up, as his owner takes a relaxing bath. The pooch appears eager to check his owner is alive and doing fine.

The viral clip comes with a caption that reads: "When your dog has to constantly make sure you haven't drowned yet." This is followed by: "At least it's a break from her barking at the critters roaming around out here."

All dog owners love their pups more than anything else in the world, but do they love us back? According to VCA Animal Hospitals, they do!

"Science proves that part of the canine brain is associated with positive emotions and they do, indeed, feel love for their human companions," the website states.

Some of the most common signs that prove your dog loves you include excitement to see you, jumping or barking, or getting overly excited when you step through the door, and bringing you gifts, among others.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across Instagram. It has so far received over 384,600 views and 13,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Nelly g, commented: "This is my cat when I take a bath except she doesn't leave, she just sits and stares till I'm done."

Morgan said: "If you did drown what would your puppy do... they have no thumbs to call 911." User Jon Jon Javellana said: "Gotta make sure his dealer with snacks is safe...."

JennDevittTravel wrote: "Haha I have a Westie and he does the same!!" User Kelli said: "Mom you good okay yup bye so adorable."

Another user, blackkat713, commented: "He's CPS certified for sure." User Keke said: "Westies are the best dogs." Daisy added: "[He's] the lifeguard!"

Newsweek reached out to peentin for comment via TikTok chat. We could not verify the details of the case.
