Seems like more of a one (big) race specialist vs a world cup specialist. But.he is still young and will continue to develop for sure.
If the UCI change a bit more the track ( no bikepark, open field) it will change the done for sure.
Now the marketing departments are at code red about 29'ers too ????????????
All the hype of easy turning, new geometry, poppy...
Now we get to the point of having 650b and 29-er tracks? Whaha...
No... 29 is just not as good as they all say they are... in DH and Enduro, they don't outrun and even lose a lot of times against 650b's...
Although the latter ones would certainly be boring to watch, and I guess stamina and leg power would define who would take the top spot.
Now you tell me that 29 is only good at a motorway? Whahaha... tell that to the marketing crew here on PB!
The new UCI start orders made it seem like the last 10 riders had a deteriorating track but they didnt as proven by the riders who actually qualified well like Pierron, Bruni, MacDonald.
Imposibro
It's been this way since forever. (Well, since John Tomac sat on the side of the track during qualifying to get a better start time due to weather)
So forget it. Send respect to Maes and watch him go beast mode next year. Loving this underdog stuff!
I feel like Rachel sandbagged her qualifying run, played the long game, gave Thanee a bit of hope!
Are you kidding me?! I think you have the two mixed up. Maybe follow them on Instagram, you'll soon realise what you've said is complete trash
Yeah, you have no clue what you're talking about. Not everyone is an immature 15-year-old....
Now of course we've come used to having camera's stuck up everyones nose. But that doesn't mean we need to judge what we get to see that way. If there were one thing unprofessional or even unreasonable, it would be to judge when you really don't need to.
My point about how they handle (read: show) it remains. It's very much different.
People tore me apart about the sore loser comment and if you compare Tahnee to a Serena Williams, I would agree. However, my comments were more about how they show/hid their excitement and/or disappointment.
I did ready a post from Tahnee after a loss a few weeks ago that was a shot at Rachael on Instagram. It was in the comments section so I'm not completely off my rocker.
Additionally, the props count on my upper post has fluctuated pretty good today (while still in the negative) means means I'm not completely alone in my thoughts!
I live or die by my internet points!
Great racing from everyone today! Makes me sad the season is over and I am actually happy to see new faces in the mix and changing things up!
*yes, I know there are good bands to, Death From Above 1979 etc etc.
Just trolling you, you sir won the comments section today!
but Canada did give us PNW riding heaven...
He did a PB interview a short while back where he basically said 27.5 is useless garbage.
I think the level has increased. The frenchies are almost unstoppable. My tip is wait till Vergier gets a bit of self belief. The kid is mega.
He lost his front wheel at La Bresse. Think he did the same here too?
It is just all marketing BS...
People said the same thing about Federer in Tennis years ago, Rossi in MotoGP and even Tiger Woods has had an incredible season after a long barren period and they are all way older than Gwin.
Athletes like that, who have the ability to be completely dominant over their opponents, dont just lie down when they are challenged. Gwin will win many more races.
@Trailshunter: They're not easier, they're way more stable. It takes time to learn how to corner them.
That said I don't think they're the absolute correct choice for DH racing like they are for trail bikes. If you've got 200mm of really good suspension like Bruni, 650b is fine.
Voullioz has won less downhill mountain bike races and less World Cup overall titles than Gwin. So how does he trounce him in stats? Let me guess, bruni also trounces him in stats?
Nico also won 5 World Cup titles and 7 Elite World Championships. He absolutely shits on Gwin and Gwin shits the bed at EVERY World Champs.
Anyway I'd argue that Minnaar is the best. To be at the top for as long as he has on bikes that only started to fit him in the last 3 years makes him hands down the best to me.
Gwin is a great rider, very consistent throughout the season. He just chokes at worlds for what ever reason?
Agree about Minaar. Top class for 20yrs.
When your done jereking off over hockey maybe realize we don’t wanna watch a half ass editited 15 min version of the race on your shitty network at 3pm on a Monday
Also you can f*ck off for blocking super cross in most of the county to
I'm in Ontario BTW
Well shit I was asleep and didn’t even bother to look .
And clearly 29” offers a significant speed avantage over the smaller wheels ...lol can we all agree that’s it’s purely a riders preference thing now ?
Can't access the stream on the PS4, just doesnt show up to watch.
Doesn't even show up in the Live Event Calender, I had to do a google search and follow links from there to find the stream.
Kind of struggled myself to find it
I sold my console for a wheelset ages ago!
Your point?

Also... can we please get someone else in the booth with warner next year? Warner kills it but claudio just pains me to hear announcing, the two don't seem like they mesh very well, I can think of some other people that would be great in the booth.
Either way, amazing year of racing, bring on 2019!
So, you watch a recording of them the start hut and catch up to them live for the finish. Otherwise, 80 riders x 3 minutes would be 8 hours long.
Guys inside the top 20 have longer intervals and get a bit more coverage.
The top 3 or 5 get even more.
What happens if Loic Bruni comes down and there is a down rider in the track?
Boom reality hits the bike industry
29er dh bikes don’t work!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know why it was not on Redbull app on my tv?
Some countries can't access it though, apparently
"Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience."
Hello mr director, this is the marketing department speaking, we got a mayor issue. World champs has been won by a 650b, and even worse, the 2nd and 3th are those damn 650b's too!...
Loic's position has always been (too?) radical against 29ers, including on social networks where he got caught trolling & hating quite a bunch of times.
I don't blame him for that, that was actually fun, but given the fact that specialized has always been pushing the wagon wheels, I imagine that at some point they must have asked him to stop talking publicly about wheel formats
Anyway I'm sure he's still 100% into 650b
As we get closer to the top riders you’ll see more of their runs and better sections.
How can she sit down with balls that big?
Wait, that doesn't fit
Congrats Rachel, absolutely sick riding!
The sport turned into a joke mainly because of the bike industry greed, they are the ones pressuring uci to change the start order.
Wouldn't it be better to add one venue to the cup and make the last one the big party WC currently are?
BTW, impressive stuff from Maes! This guy has the potential to have a legacy.
Loic was well within the top 10 overall again this season despite his injury and missing several events. World Champs is a 1 race, all out, run what you brung, go big or go home event. How many times have pilots had great overall seasons, yet flop at Worlds? Looking at you Mr.Gwin... Worlds is a totaly different animal IMHO
You really have to be solid as the rock of Gibraltar and let it fly at Worlds to bring home the rainbows. Loic has proven he can deliver. Again.
You make a very fair point, It's about rewarding performing big once a given day vs performing less extremely but consistently. Funny thing I went through many competitive exams and like the system ( vs year-long evaluation).
My indifference for this rider aside, what triggered my comment is more that I feel there is a huge discrepancy in recognition between the cup and champs winner. It can be argued for but I feel quite sad that, although many will be able the cite champs from the past couple of years, no one remembers the overall winners.
I'm not trying to hate on Bruni, he is an incredibly talented rider and didn't rob anyone nor won from a succession of lucky event . Rather, I wanted to "spark" a reflexion on the discrepancy there is ( in my eyes) between Champs and Cup in terms of image, recognition etc...
Enduro = real mtbiking
Must be like go kart racing compared to formula 1.......
Enduro is DH for real athletes :-)
His father is an old World Champ in Enduro
