L.A. BAY’S YELLOWTAIL cooperated on a family outing for Capt. Juan Cook. He is now operating for the rest of the summer out of San Quintin Bay.
GORDO BANKS PANGAS saw increased numbers of dorado showing up, though the majority were smaller sized fish, but again a couple of much larger bulls over 50 pounds were reported from a cruiser fishing near Cabrillo Seamount, but also scattered throughout the region, striking on a variety of trolled feathers and rigging baits. GORDO BANKS PANGAS saw increased numbers of dorado showing up, though the majority were smaller sized fish, but again a couple of much larger bulls over 50 pounds were reported from a cruiser fishing near Cabrillo Seamount, but also scattered throughout the region, striking on a variety of trolled feathers and rigging baits.

IT’S SUMMERTIME, BUT big mullet snapper (pargo liso) have been showing up and spawning in the shallows near Cerralvo Island and just outside of Bahia Muertos and Las Arenas. Mark Buchanan and Diana Hernandez from San Diego hooked into several of these over the reef.

CATCHING THE 814-POUND blue marlin was the group of California anglers who fished aboard the 31-foot Tiburon, a Pisces Fleet sportfisher. The battle lasted six hours. Anglers were Dennis Poudel, Mark Molnar, Sam Ferrans and Curtis Paul.
THE HUGE MARLIN could not be brought into the 31-foot BertramTiburon which does not have a transom door, so crews of the La Brisa and Reels ‘N Dirt helped secure the blue marlin for the ride home.

ROGER THOMPSON FORMERLY from Long Beach has a house at La Ventana near La Paz and was slow trolling a sardine in about 20 feet of water when this hog yellowtail hit. He got 3 to the boat and lost a freight train he couldn’t stop on a Salas jig.

Donna has lots of experience on big Baja fish and they were out at the north end of Cerralvo Island when they hit breaking yellowtail.
