Bellatorias frerei (formerly Egernia frerei)
This is the largest Skink I've ever seen. It was at least 35cm in length & looked very healthy considering we've had months of dry weather. There were actually a pair of them, the other scurried away as I came upon them. Their bodies are quite thick & looked flattened as it sat there in the sun. A new find for me which I'm very happy about.
They are found all along the Queensland coast & down into NSW in wet rainforests.
Cape Hillsborough N.P. I had trouble finding a reference I could use online, so I have referenced Scott's spotting. I ID'd this Skink from 'Field Guide to Australian Reptiles' by Stephen Swansen.
