The Swiss marathon specialist finished ahead of Nicholas Pettina (ITA), Soren Nissen (DEN) and Australian Brendan Johnston at the end of the 96km ride from Atherton to Irvinebank.
After three days of rain, showers and cool evenings the stage started with a climb through the Atherton MTB Park with the riders climbing across the range before crossing into the Hastings Swamp National Park towards Herberton and Silver Valley Road through mining country to Irvinebank.
With the heat ramping up quickly the lead group of the top four riders in the general elite men’s classification drove to the front and stayed there.
On the wide open mining roads after the third feed zone it was Huber who broke away on the last 5km to finish in a time of 3hr 45min 1sec to increase his overall lead to 6min 19sec.
Pettina finished second at second ahead of Denmark’s Soren Nissen at 1min 24sec and while Johnston trailed at 3min 10sec.
The women's race became a one-rider show after Regina Genser (GER) abandoned because of illness. Australia's Sarah White has only to stay upright over the remaining stages to cement the victory.

“It’s a real shame that Regina is out of the race," White said after finishing in a time of 5hr 32min 31sec. “I expected today and tomorrow to be stages that would really suit her and have not been looking forward to these two days.
White will now defend her position as the fastest woman in the race from German amateur Kristin Endres who finished just 12min behind the Australian.
The general classifications remain unchanged as the Crocodile Trophy set up camp in Irvinebank for two nights. Stage 6 will be a 116km marathon around Irvinebank featuring 2400 metres of climbing.
