Pellet vs. Powder Supplement Formulations

Most UltraCruz® Equine Supplements are now available in pelletized formulations. By using pellets, rather than powder, we have been able to:

  • Ensure stability of active ingredients
  • Maximize product freshness
  • Reduce waste

All San Juan Ranch performance and breeding horses use UltraCruz® Equine pelletized products.

Can I feed my lactating idaho pasture pig this product safely? I have read that if they are rooting too much it means there is a mineral deficiency? I am feeding a 17% protein mixed feed I buy from an Amish feed mill. Thanks for any help.

Hello, Pigs would be fed using the same criteria as goats, llamas, and alpacas. For example, if you were feeding the pellet, they would get no more than 1/3 scoop per head per day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powdered form is great for adding to loose mineralI am really glad this selenium supplement is available in a powdered form. I live in a very selenium deficient area and have to give Bo-Se shots to my goats 2-3 times per year. I was looking for a way to increase selenium in their diet and reduce the number of shots I have to give. I used the Santa Cruz selenium pellets for goats & my goats absolutely love them. But since I have a large herd it is tough to give them all their dose as a daily treat without them fighting over who's turn it is. I am glad it is available in powder form so I can mix a small amount with their loose minerals to boost selenium levels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This worksI'm reviewing again because I was able to get my goats' blood selenium level results from before and after supplementing them with the yeast powder. If you've read my previous review, I bought the yeast powder because where I live we have selenium deficient soil and my hay tested with pretty much no selenium in it. Not even a good quality mineral could boost a pretty much zero level of selenium, so I knew I needed to supplement more! Before: .14 ppm selenium After daily supplementation: .33 ppm selenium (goat selenium ref. range= .09-.50 ppm) This is great considering their blood levels before were very low, and some of my animals were even in the deficient range. They look a lot better now and I will continue to use this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Selenium yeast powderThis was the most economical selenium yeast powder I could find online. The powder came in a very robust mini bucket with a scoop so I could dose it correctly. We have very selenium deficient soil here in california, so this is the most economical way to supplement selenium.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even the goats love it!Living in a selenium deficient area makes raising livestock tricky. I found that by adding this product to my goats minerals or top dress on their feed once a day, it took care of my selenium problems without potentially overdosing them. I prefer to give it orally rather than by injection. Even when I added it for the first time, my otherwise picky goats ate it right down. I love this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Noticeable results! We have been giving this to our Hereford beef cattle for several months now at the suggestion of our veterinarian as our area is very selenium deficient. We have had a terrific calving season. Our calves have hit the ground running and have great energy and vigor. Our yearlings and brood stock have developed slick, beautiful coats. We are very impressed. When we showed the container to the vet she was also impressed and said it looked very high quality. thank you Santa Cruz!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! This is the second time we have purchased the selenium pellets and my goats like them much better then the powder. The pellets smell good and are easy to top dress on feed. I never have a problem getting my goats to eat the pellets. Definitely recommend for goat owners in selenium deficient areas.
