Monika Lehmann captures the colorful light of atmospherically lit landscapes and uses it to describe fleeting natural spectacles. The sensory impressions of nature are heightened by the powerful and extreme colors, the unseen parts of nature are made visible. In the painting process, the artist mixes feelings… with reality.
Climate change is made visible, beauty and the forces of nature come together. The painting style is expressive, but at the same time very thoughtful. "This is the only way I can paint a certain weather situation in a way that feels like a painting." The colors blue and yellow mixed with green make the picture shine powerfully and draw the eye to the horizon.

« "The true reality is the invisible." »
Monika Lehmann is a renowned German painter whose artworks are exhibited throughout Germany and Austria. Her anonymous portraits show a variety of different characters, freed from gender and origin, inspired by study trips to distant countries. With her expressive landscape paintings, she takes a critical look at climate change and the consequences of global warming. The artist deals with colors and shapes and their effect on the viewer. After initial sketches on paper, she paints with acrylic paints, inks and pigments. Her paintings are created in several layers that merge with and on top of each other.
