Silene schafta 1 Litres
3 FOR £12
Silene schafta, commonly known as autumn catchfly, is a low-growing semi-evergreen perennial plant that can reach up to 25cm in height. Its bright green leaves are lance-shaped, and it produces small clusters of purplish-pink flowers that are around 2cm in diameter from late summer. This plant is highly valued for its late summer to autumn flowering period, and after blooming, it just requires a trim.
It is an excellent choice for rock gardens, providing late-season colour when most other alpines have finished blooming. It prefers a sandy or gritty soil and can also be used to edge a well-drained border. Once established, this plant is drought-tolerant. It holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
