Bella Hadid has talked openly of her struggles with anxiety and depression. Her social media often serves as a means of addressing how she approaches her mental health, and in a new interview, she's further shared how she approaches the practice of self-care.

Speaking with Bustle, Bella revealed that she makes sure to always take a daily 30-minute walk. As she explained, “My anxiety and depression were because of the fact that when I wasn’t working, I was so exhausted that I was just at home hibernating. Then, all of a sudden, after 38 hours of being off, I felt I couldn’t even go outside or else I’d freak out.”

She also likes to tap into her creative side and tries to begin each day by journaling. Before even going on her phone, she writes for 30 minutes, telling Bustle, “I love to write poetry and to write in general, but when I wake up in the morning and I have brain fog, I’ll get frustrated because I’m like, “How can I not write?” But using your brain is how you continue to help it function better.”

Even with her somewhat packed schedule, Bella uses time spent with friends and family, along with meditation, acupuncture, and taking a bath as forms of self-care. “I’m pretty low-maintenance when it comes to my time off. Sometimes what’s best for me is to do absolutely nothing and not feel guilty about it,” she said.

Back in November, Bella shared an extensive Instagram post, addressing how she approaches feelings of anxiety and burnouts. At the time she had written, “If you work hard enough on yourself, spending time alone to understand your traumas, triggers, joys, and routine, you will always be able to understand or learn more about your own pain and how to handle it.”

You can also incorporate self-care into your daily routine. There are plenty of options for looking after yourself and while some prefer taking a bubble bath and enjoying a face mask, others mediate, limit their time on social media, or participate in affirmations.
