This guy hated the tattoos on his forehead…so he got the flesh SLICED OUT into a weird pattern instead

'Brave' Josh opted for the scarification design, performed by body modifier Brendan Russell, to cover up his existing inkings

A LAD who went off the tattoos on his forehead decided to replace them - by getting FLESH carved out of his forehead into a pattern instead.

Brave Josh visited body piercer and modifier Brendan Russell, from Australia, to have the painful-looking procedure.

A graphic video of the gruesome carving was then uploaded to the Bslice Body Modification social media pages, where it's had more than 2.4million views.

This type of skin 'art' is called scarification and involves scratching, etching, burning or superficially cutting designs, pictures or words into the skin.

Writing about Josh's procedure, Brendan captioned the video: "Here it is! This is today's result of Josh's tattoo removal! Scarified him with this epic sacred pattern smack bang on his forehead!! Mate... Seriously! Good Job!!!!!! Well done brother, marvellously handled!"

The horrific process involved cutting out sections of Josh's forehead, leaving behind a series of bloodied diamond shapes which connected into an intricate pattern.

Facebook users provided a mixed reaction to Josh's scarification tattoo.

Many were horrified at the bloody procedure, with one writing: "OUCH!!!!!! Why the hell would someone do that to their body!! Especially your face!!! Jesus....hope he has a huge inheritance or something... Jobless for life. And wait until he's older!!!"

Another commented: "Wtf have I've just watched....this should not be allowed. ... why would you do this to yourself! !!!!! Needs to be in a bleeding mental hospital, just saying!!!!!"

Others were less offended, with one writing: "His skin, his choice. Not for me though", while others tagged their friends in the post as they were keen to have it done themselves.

Brendan later posted an update on Josh, writing: "Five weeks into the healing process! So happy how stoked you are with it Josh, it's still got a fair bit of healing to go with the tissue still yet to fully relax but it's coming along beautifully!"

Last year we told how body modification expert Yann Brenyak is pioneering this gruesome new trend, which he calls a “graphic skin portrait”.

The Swiss-born London artist removes layers of skin and flesh with a scalpel in the shape of a desired design before filling it in with ink.

Earlier this year we reported a bride-to-be spent six hours and hundreds of pounds having layers of her skin cut off to leave behind a flower ‘tattoo’ on her chest.

Josh's tattoo removal could have gone worse.

Yesterday we told how a man was left with a rotting pit on his arm after using dodgy cheap chemicals to remove a tattoo himself, rather than paying for laser removal surgery.
