Best events of 2017 for UCI World Cups in mountain bike, BMX and trials

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce the best events of its UCI World Cup series for mountain bike, BMX and trials.

All events that are part of a UCI World Cup meet strict organisational criteria, but each year, participants vote for the event that they feel stood out.

Best event votes were held for the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano, the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup and the UCI Trials World Cup.

For the mountain bike cross-country Olympic (XCO) and downhill (DHI), it was the UCI Elite MTB Teams, the top five ranked riders, UCI sponsors and staff who voted for their favourite event.

A regular host of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano, Nove Mesto Na Morave was voted best XCO event for the sixth time. The city in the Czech Republic returned to the World Cup calendar this year after hosting the UCI Mountain Bike Cross-country World Championships in 2016. Voters appreciated the course, team area, crowds, atmosphere and general organisation.

For the same reasons, Fort William, Great Britain, won the vote for best DHI event. The Scottish venue hosted its 16th UCI World Cup in 2017, and has already been voted best event on five prior occasions, including last year.

On the calendar of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup since 2011, Papendal (the Netherlands) won the vote of the media, sponsors and UCI staff to clinch the best event for the second time after 2013.

The BMX track at the Sport Centre Papendal is home of the Dutch national team, and welcomed the first two rounds of the world series on May 6 and 7. The UCI World Cup continued in Heusden-Zolder (Belgium) and Santiago del Estero (Argentina).

Once again it was the organisation, venue and great atmosphere that won the votes for the Dutch stopover, which took place during a weekend of activities that included the cultural Framed Festival.

The French commune of Albertville hosted the fourth of five rounds of the 2017 UCI Trials World Cup which spanned four months (May – September).

Riders, photographers, journalists and UCI crew voted for Albertville, a regular UCI World Cup stopover, thanks to its great atmosphere and excellent organisation. It was a close contest with the final stopover Antwerp (Belgium) which has won the best event vote for the last three years.

The organisers of all four winning events will be presented with a trophy from the UCI.
