Capt Dave's On the Gulf

Went back last week on a Tuesday and they were closed! Bummer!! So we went on Wednesday. Got the flounder this time. It tasted great and a great portion.
Twice baked potato great as always with a tossed salad. With a few beers, we left satisfied! Will return on our next visit to Florida!!

3 stars for me. Greeting from hostess could be better and just overall vibe when you walk
in could be friendlier.The view is beautiful and that was part of why we chose this restaurant. This was the first restaurant we ate at in Destin so I'm not sure how prices compare but think they could improve ambiance for prices. I did really enjoy the twice baked potato and think it's worth upgrading. The Parmesan Mahi Mahi was good but rich and it was a large portion. My girls loved the kids shrimp. My husband enjoyed his meal as well. They were busy overall and still think it's a good place for a meal, I am just picky on ambiance.

I can't vouch for any dishes other than the fried shrimp. That said it was a 10 out of 10. My plate had a dozen big perfectly cooked shrimp. The best we have had yet.
The service was good the restaurant was clean and inviting. Nothing but good things to say about Captain Dave's.

Food was excellent, fresh and the service and atmosphere were incredible. Seated right beside the huge glass windows with the gorgeous ocean views and all of their gorgeous fish tanks! Start with the Parmesan baked shrimp, move on to the salad and crab cakes, and then I ended with the 1 1/2 lb. Of crab legs with a baked potato and that was just my meal! if you leave her hungry, something has gone terribly wrong! Service was excellent on both visits!!

The BEST fried crab claws I've ever eaten. We enjoyed our dinner so much! We will be back!

Let me start off by saying the atmosphere is nice, great views, and our waiter was a super friendly guy, but the food was pricey and not for us. We got the mozzarella sticks, they weren't bad. Our salads were our favorite part of the meal! They were refreshing and tasty. We got our first soft-shell crab to try and I thought the legs were not bad but didn't care for the body. My husband said he thought it tasted kind of like a fried oyster. I ordered the Parmesan shrimp. The shrimps weren't bad but we didn't like the crab meat. It seemed to be like a deviled crab meat or something. I got a huge greasy stain on my newer shirt from this meal, so that sucks. Husband got Cajun grouper with shrimp I think it was, he said it wasn't bad. Overall our least favorite meal on vacation and we won't be back.

Was on a family vacation with my family. We decided to come here, there was 12 of us. They "close" at 9; however, they still seat ppl up until 9pm, which was nice to know. We had a long wait but it was well worth it. I dont remember the name of our waitress but she was very nice.

It's a local spot, you park across the street. Everyone we encountered was very nice.

Everyone enjoyed their food, everything was good minus the vegetable of the day, lima beans. They weren't bad they just didnt look appetizing, a bit dry.

I would totally recommend this restaurant for small or large groups. We all left full and satisfied.

Ambience is god. View is breathtaking. Food was served on a silver platter bathing in oils and butter a half inch deep. I would describe my Snapper Jane meal as smothered and yellow.

Hmmmmm, well this *is* a tourist "Destin-ation," however, as a New Orleans' native I wasn't too jazzed by the amount of RICE in the gumbo. Or should I say the splash of gumbo with an entire serve of rice :/
-the flavor was good (even if it is a tomato based gumbo!), but it has WAYYY too much rice, especially for the price point ($9).
The redfish dish was meh mainly because it was overpowered by the creamy sauce. TIP: always ask for sauces to be put on the side.

Service was slow and indifferent.

You'll pay for the FANTASTiC view, but the food is mediocre at best. Strictly a touristy trap kinda place.

The view was great, it was unfortunate when we went the Ac was broken but the food and ambiance was stunning. If I am ever in Destin again I will most definitely be back. I ended up with my always have to try clam chowder and for. The main event stuffed shrimp parmesan. So good very satisfied with what I ordered!
