TESLA Model X SUV is known for its astonishing acceleration power, but a new video has taken that to the next level causing a crushing embarrassment for a supercar.

is not just a practical long-range electric SUV, it is also a bit of a beast.

Much like the Model S, it has astonishingly quick acceleration speeds achieve 0-60mph in just 3.2 seconds.

It is the fastest SUV in the world and has and tuned vehicles on drag strips over the past few years in one-to-one races.

Tesla has taken this to the next level with a new video.

If crushing supercars wasn’t already enough, the SUV decided to deliver the coup de gras to combustion engines by beating an Alfa Romeo 4C Spider whilst dragging  a trailer behind it, carrying another car.

Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, posted the video to his Instagram account of the Model X towing a trailer carrying a car racing the Alfa Romeo.

The car it was carrying was another 4C Spider, which when combined with the trailer weighed around 1,800kg.

This is a huge weight addition to the Model X which already weighs 1,700kg more than the Alfa Romeo.

The 4C Spider is no slouch either, with it able to go from 0-62 mph in 5.55 seconds and on to a top speed of 160mph.

In the clip a voiceover says “This wasn't a scientific race and we didn't use any testing equipment because frankly we thought it was a really stupid idea.

"But the point here is that the Alfa 4C is a really, really fast car and the Model X is so much faster that you have to put a 4,000-pound trailer on it to make it as fast as a really fast car."

The Model X crosses the Alfa Romeo one whole car length before it catches up.
