GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – A dump truck crashed into the Burger King restaurant on State Street in Girard Wednesday morning.

The accident happened about 7:45 a.m.

Police say the driver of the Herman Rossi and Sons, Inc. dump truck appeared to have suffered from a medical condition.

The man was traveling about 15 miles per hour along State Street when he hit a fire hydrant near Dairy Queen. He then drifted across the street and crashed into Burger King.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken St. Joseph Hospital in Warren.

The restaurant was open at the time, but no injuries were reported inside the building and no children were inside the play area at the time of the crash.

The play area at the restaurant is closed for the day, but the restaurant will remain open.
