B. die Ärzte zum Reinigen der Zähne Stäbchen mit Gummioder Zeugbelag oder Sonden und Spachteln bedienen, deren abgeplattete und gebogene Enden mit einem Wattebausch umwickelt sind, so eignen sich solche Instrumente doch nicht für den Laien, da die mit Gummi- oder Zeugbelag versehenen Stäbchen nach jedem Gebrauche einer sorgfältigen Desinfektion bedürfen. Das feste Anfügen des Wattebausches aber an der gebräuchlichen Sonde oder dem Spachtel in der Art, daß die Watte beim Gebrauche des Instrumentes nicht losgelöst wird, erfordert eine gewisse Übung und einen Zeitaufwand, den man von dem großen Publikum nicht fordern kann.
