Description

The invention relates to a dental treatment lungsgerät according to the preamble of claim 1.

Dental treatment devices of this type are in themselves for the most diverse application or treatment purposes known, these treatment devices in many cases are trained that they have supply hoses with a fixed control and supply facility connected Have handpieces on which instrument inserts can be detached can be attached. Through the detachable connection it is between the handpieces and the instrument inserts possible, the latter for sterilization purposes etc. from the Remove handpieces. The usual ones on the market Dental treatment devices of this type are however so trained that each handpiece by the control and utility supply device with fixed predetermined resources and in this case in particular also with electrically controlled instructions ment inserts with fixed electrical types The equipment is controlled so that one and only instrument inserts are used in the same handpiece can that of their function and thus of their electri the training supplied to the handpiece in question Type of electrical equipment (frequency, power etc.).

Due to the ever smaller mechanical dimensions from dental treatment facilities as well as due to the ever increasing number of in their function very different treatment elements, which then too require different equipment for control, will be a comfortable and easy to handle arrangement a wide variety of dental instruments Treatment facilities increasingly difficult.

The invention has for its object a dental Show treatment device, which with extremely small mechanical dimensions very different treatment instruct with their training and function very allows various instrument inserts.

Dental treatment is needed to solve this task device according to the invention according to the characterizing Part of claim 1 trained.

The invention lies inter alia. based on the knowledge that with small mechanical dimensions of the treatment center a very wide range of different treatment or possible uses can be achieved in that in the simplest case a single one, with the tax and Supply device via a supply hose connected handpiece a set or group of in their Function and training of different instruments sets, for example ultrasonic instrument insert Tartar removal, instrument insert for high frequency Surgery and therapy, use of instruments for laser therapy pie and instrument insert as additional lighting facility, etc. is assigned, especially the in the control and supply device provided and the electrical equipment for these different Control device supplying instrument inserts or the Main generator of the control device can be switched over that also the handpiece via the supply circuit or the Control circuit supplied electrical equipment in terms of frequency, power, etc. on the Handpiece provided optimally adapted instrument insert is.

To avoid errors in the control and above all to relieve the user (dentist) as well Treatment device according to the invention before that after attachment an instrument insert on the handpiece with the help of a measurement and evaluation provided in the control device direction on the basis of the respective instrument use  used typical input impedance of the handpiece identification of the type of this handpiece Signal is determined, which is then the control device or the main generator provided in this device for control with the required electrical Prepared resources, these resources however only be given when the user (Dentist) one connected to the control device Switch (e.g. foot switch) is operated.

The fact that in the treatment device according to the invention identifying the respective type of instrument use Identification signal derived by measuring the impedance for this preparatory measurement of the later also for controlling the use of instruments Serving control circuit are used so that none additional lines especially in the supply hose are necessary. Since the respective instruct insert is inductively coupled to the handpiece the instrument inserts also without difficulties and without electrical contact problems can be used in the handpiece and removable from it, especially since no electrical ones Contacts for coding or for generating the identifi cation signal are required.

Further developments of the invention are the subject of the Unteran claims.

The instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e are each elongated or rod-shaped, ie they essentially consist of a rod-shaped part 4 a , 4 b , 4 c , 4 d or 4 e , these parts each having the same length and the same Have outside diameter.

The handpiece 1 has an opening 5 which extends over the greater part of the length of this handpiece and which is open at one end, ie in the illustration chosen for FIG. 1, at the right end of the handpiece 1 , so that from this side the individual instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e with their rod-shaped parts 4 a to 4 e and also the lamp tube 3 can be inserted into the opening 5 of the handpiece 1 and anchored there in a suitable manner (for example by means of a clamp fit, bayonet locking, etc.). In the same way, the individual instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e and the lamp tube 3 can be removed from the handpiece 1 for cleaning or sterilizing in an autoclave or for exchanging an instrument insert for another instrument insert.

At the opposite side of the open end of the opening 5 , the supply hose 7 is connected to the handpiece via a releasable coupling 6 , via which the handpiece 1 is connected to an external supply and control device and which is used to supply the operating medium, such as water, air etc. and above all also for supplying the electrical energy or equipment to the handpiece 1 . The electrical energy is supplied to the handpiece 1 via the supply hose 7 depending on the instrument insert 2 a to 2 e used in the form of a low-frequency AC voltage (below 10 KHz) or in the form of a high-frequency AC voltage (above 10 KHz) Via an electrical line 8 provided in the supply hose 7 from the electrical control device 9 provided in the external supply and control device.

The opening 5 of the handpiece 1 is limited in the embodiment shown over its entire length by the inner surface of a tube piece 10 , which is with its longitudinal extension or axis coaxially with the longitudinal axis of the circular cylindrical handpiece 1 and made of a magnetically inactive material, preferably is made of plastic. On the pipe section 10 , a coil 11 is wound, which extends over the entire length of the pipe section 10 and with its individual turns encloses the pipe section 10 in a helical manner on its outer surface. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 6, the coil 11 has two connections, each of which is connected to a conductor of the two-wire line 8 . The coil 11 is further enclosed by an outer jacket 12 , which also forms the outer surface of the handpiece 1 , this outer jacket, which at least in its partial area directly surrounding the coil 11, is made of electrically insulating material, preferably plastic, and with the two Ends of the pipe section 10 is connected such that the coil 11 is provided or sealed absolutely tight in the handpiece 1 .

The lamp tube 3 designed as an open at both ends has a section 3 ', on which this lamp tube has a reduced outer cross section, which is equal to the cross section of the opening 5 , so that the lamp tube 3 with the section 3 ' can be inserted into the opening 5 . In section 3 ', a coil 13 is embedded in the material of the lamp tube 3 , which coils with its coils around the longitudinal axis of the lamp tube and, when the lamp tube 3 is inserted into the handpiece 1 , is concentrically enclosed by a section of the coil 11 , so that the coil 13 is inductively coupled to the coil 11 or forms the secondary winding of a transformer consisting of the coils 11 and 13 .

Operationsfeld beleuchtenden Be leuchtungseinrichtung bilden. Verwendung finden. At the section 3 'follows a section 3 '', in which the lamp tube 3 has a larger than the section 3 ' outer cross-section and which protrudes when attached to the handpiece 1 lamp tube 3 on that side of the hand piece 1 , at which the opening 5 is open. At the portion 3 'facing away side 3, four miniature bulbs 14 are provided in the lamp tube, which are arranged offset to the local opening of the lamp tube 3 in equal angular distances and illumination unit forming the light-emitting part of the respective operating or surgical field illuminating Be . As shown in FIG. 2, the bulbs 14 are connected in parallel to one another and in parallel to the two connections of the winding 13 . Parallel to the incandescent lamps 14 there is also a diode arrangement 15 provided in the lamp tube 3 , which is formed by two antiparallel connected diodes and is used in particular for changes in load or in the event of a change in the handpiece 1 or the use thereof and an instrument 2 a to 2 e formed manual instrument supplied electrical power to avoid differences in brightness of the light bulbs 14 and also to protect the latter from overloads. Furthermore, the diode arrangement 15 is also provided for safety reasons in order to avoid excessively high voltages on exposed or live parts in the event of a glass breakage of the light bulbs 14 . Instead of the diode arrangement 15 , other voltage-limiting elements, for example a diode circuit composed of two antiparallel Zener diodes, a varistor, etc. can also be used.

In Fig. 3, the handpiece 1 is shown again together with the lamp tube 3 used in this handpiece and together with the instrument insert also used in the handpiece 1 ten a 2 a . The rod-shaped part 4 a of the instrument insert 2 a, which is received from the opening 5 of the hand piece 1 and partly also from the opening of the sleeve-like lamp tube 3 , consists essentially of a ferrite rod 16 , on which a coil 17 is wound in such a way that the windings thereof Enclose the axis of the ferrite rod helically and the winding 17 is concentrically enclosed by the coil 11 when the instrument insert 2 a is inserted into the handpiece 1 . Connected to the ferrite rod 16 in the direction of the lamp tube 3 is a rod-shaped element 18 made of electrically insulating material which is coaxial with the ferrite rod and which on its free end facing away from the coil 17 and up to the open end of the lamp tube 3 facing away from the handpiece 1 reaching end carries a Hochfre frequency electrode 19 made of electrically conductive material, which forms the working side of the instrument insert 2 a , is initially axially aligned with the axis of the rod-shaped element 18 and at its free, tapering end runs slightly obliquely to this axis. The electrode 19 is electrically connected to one end, ie to the hot end of the coil 17 , via a line (not shown in detail) which runs inside the element 18 . The rod-shaped element 18 is provided from its outer surface with an electrically conductive coating, to which the other end of the coil 17 is connected. This coating of electrically conductive material on the outer surface of the element 18 acts as part of a tubular capacitor and thus serves to derive the high frequency from the hand capacity of the user or treating doctor holding the handpiece 1 , whereby the coil 17 is connected to the ground with a high frequency connection As indicated in Fig. 4 for the instrument insert 2 a , and what with the applied high frequency AC voltage also the circuit via the electrode 19 , the treated tissue of the patient and the mass capacity of the patient and the user (treating doctor ) closed is. With the help of the coil 17 , the electrode 19 is inductively coupled to the coil 11 .

To hold the instrument insert 2 a in the handpiece 1 are two O-rings 20 made of elastic material, of which an O-ring sits on the part of the ferrite rod 16 projecting over the coil 17 and an O-ring 20 on the element 18 . In the same way, the instrument inserts 2 b to 2 d are held in the handpiece 1 .

In FIGS. 5 and 6, the instrument insert 2 b is shown in detail. This used for laser treatment instrument use consists in its rod-shaped part 4 b of a ferrite rod 21 , on which a coil 22 is wound up, so that this in turn surrounds the axis of the ferrite rod 21 with its turns like a coil. Following the ferrite rod 21 , the rod-shaped part 4 b has a rod-shaped element 23 made of insulating material, which merges into a probe 24 forming the working side of the instrument insert 2 b , which carries a laser diode 25 at its free end. To control the laser diode 25 , a power supply device 26 is provided in the element 23 , which is connected on the input side to the coil 22 . Furthermore, a pulse demodulator 27 is provided in element 23 , with the aid of which the power emitted by laser diode 25 is sensed in accordance with a specific pulse frequency. When the instrument insert 2 b is used in the handpiece 1 , the coil 22 is in turn inductively coupled to the coil 11 . Via the transformer formed by the coils 11 and 22 , an alternating voltage is supplied to the instrument insert 2 b , which is modulated with the pulse used to key the laser diode 25 , or else this pulse signal is superimposed, the frequency of which is, for example, of the order of magnitude between 20 Hz and 100 Hz.

In a similar manner to the rod-shaped part 4 b of the instrument insert 2 b , the rod-shaped part 4 c of the instrument insert 2 c is also formed, ie the part 4 c of the instrument insert 2 c again consists of the ferrite rod 21 and the coil 22 , however a piezo-ceramic transducer or vibration generator 28 is provided instead of the element 23 in the instrument insert 2 c , which is connected to the connections of the coil 22 and is mechanically coupled to a tool 29 which forms the working side of the instrument insert 2 c and for example is used to remove tartar.

While in the case of the instrument insert 2 c, the ultrasonic vibration generator 28 is provided entirely in the instrument insert, the instrument insert 2 d has only a part of the magneto-strictive transducer or vibration generator in this case, namely the iron package 30 , which at the same time also the rod-shaped part 4 d forms. One end of the iron package 30 is mechanically coupled to the tool 29 .

The instrument insert 2 c is formed in the same way as the instrument insert 2 b , only with the difference that the voltage supply device 26 , which is essentially formed by a rectifier circuit, and the pulse demodulator 27 on the rod-shaped part 4 e of the instrument insert 2 e are missing and the coil 22 , which can also have a smaller number of turns in the instrument insert 2 e than in the instrument insert 2 b , is directly connected with its two connections to a light source (electrical, light-imitating component or incandescent lamp 31 ) provided at the free end of the probe 24 . As indicated in FIG. 5, the instrument inserts 2 b to 2 e in turn have on their rod-shaped parts 4 b to 4 e the two O-rings 20 with which these instrument inserts are held in the opening 5 of the handpiece 1 .

Fig. 7 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of the handpiece 1 , in which the provided in the handpiece, the coil 11 corresponding coil 11 'is composed of two windings 32 and 33 or has a center tap 34 , so that the coil 11 ' over the line 8 then having three conductors is connected to the control device 9 . This special design of the handpiece 1 according to FIG. 7 has the advantage that the different design of the instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e can be optimally taken into account by appropriate control of the entire coil 11 'or its windings 32 or 33 . Furthermore, this special design offers the possibility that one of the two windings, for example the winding 32 having the lower number of turns, can be used by the control device 9 for the identification of the respective instrument insert 2 a to 2 e described in more detail below, while the other winding , for example the winding 33 with the higher number of turns is used to control the instrument insert 2 a to 2 e .

All of the above-described designs have the basic advantage that the lamp tube 3 and the respective instrument insert 2 a to 2 e are inductively or magnetically coupled to the handpiece 1 , so that the lamp tube 3 and the instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e are slightly attached to the handpiece 1 can be plugged on or removed from it and in particular also no electrical contacts between the handpiece 1 and the lamp tube 3 or the instrument insert 2 a to 2 e used in each case, which generally cause problems, are required.

Due to the different design and function of the instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e , these also require control by the control device with an alternating voltage of different frequency and different size, with the instrument 1 2 b being supplied to the handpiece 1 and inductively via the latter to the instrument insert 2 b transmitted AC voltage in the manner described above must also be modulated or superimposed with a pulse signal. In order to automatically adapt at least the AC voltage supplied to the handpiece 1 via the line 8 to the respective instrument insert 2 a to 2 e inserted into the hand piece 1, the control device 9 is basically designed in such a way that after inserting an instrument insert 2 a to 2 e into the handpiece 1 via the line 8 , which later also serves to control the instrument insert in question, first according to a different identifier from instrument insert to instrument insert, the type of the existing instrument insert, but also the presence or absence of the lamp tube 3 fixed provides, on the basis of this information, the control device 9 is then prepared for emitting the required electrical control signal and the control signal is, however, only emitted when the foot switch 35 connected to the control device 9 is operated by the user or treating doctor approx.

In the illustrated embodiment, the Ansteuerein device 9 has a main generator 36 , which serves to generate the electrical control signal for the respective Instrumen use 2 a to 2 e , and an auxiliary generator 37 , which is part of a measuring circuit for identifying the particular instrument insert. Both generators 36 and 37 can be optionally connected to the line 8 and thus to the control circuit of the handpiece 1 by means of a switching electronics 38 , namely via a sensor device 39 located in the connection between this switching electronics and the line 8 . The switching electronics 38 is designed such that in the idle state or switch-on mode, ie when the foot switch 35 is not actuated, the line 8 is connected to the output of the auxiliary generator 37 via the sensor device 39 .

Auxiliary generator 37 is assigned a ramp generator 40 , which supplies a sawtooth-shaped voltage at its output, which is fed to the control input of auxiliary generator 37 and with which the frequency of the auxiliary generator, which is below 10 kHz, for example, changes or shifts in accordance with the sawtooth signal is so that an AC voltage swept in frequency is present at the output of the auxiliary generator 37 . The output of the ramp generator 40 is also connected to an input of an evaluation device 41 , which is connected to a measurement output of the sensor device 39 by a second input. The output of the evaluation device 41 is connected to an input of a parameter memory 42 , the second input of which is connected to an input field 43 (keyboard). In the illustrated embodiment, the parameter memory 42 has a total of three outputs, one of which is connected to the input of a modulator 44 , one with switching electronics 45 , which is associated with the main generator 36 , and one with the input of a switching logic 46, which is connected to it Output controls the switching electronics 38 and is connected to the foot switch 35 at a second input. The switching logic 46 has a logical AND function, that is, it delivers a switching electronics 38 in the sense of a connection between the main generator 36 and the line 8 switching signal only when both at the input of the switching logic 46 connected to the parameter memory Signal is present and at the same time the foot switch 35 is actuated. The foot switch 35 is also connected directly to a second input of the switching electronics 45 . The switching electronics 45 contains electrical switching means with which the frequency and / or power of the main generator 36 are preselected on the basis of the signal supplied by the parameter memory 42 and this generator is then switched on when the foot switch 35 is actuated.

Since the individual instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e have a different input impedance (complex resistance) due to their different design, this different input impedance is used for the identification or differentiation of the different instrument inserts, with the advantage that the identification of the instrument inserts via the same line 8 can take place, which will later also be used to control these Instrumenteinein sets, so no additional lines are required in the supply hose 7 . The further advantage here is also that no electrical contacts are required for the identification of the individual instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e used in the handpiece 1 , which are susceptible to faults and could lead to incorrect information.

The mode of operation of the control device 9 can be described as follows:

Prior to insertion of an instrument insert, for example of the instrument insert 2 a, the switch-over is in the than the supply tube 7 and the line 8 connected to the driving means 9 handpiece 1 38 in the position shown in Fig. 4 rest position, so that the output of Auxiliary generator 37 via the switching electronics 38 and the sensor device 39 , the line 8 is connected to the coil 11 or 11 'in the handpiece 1 and thus by these coils and by a hen in the sensor device 38 hen measuring element, which in the simplest case of a resistor is formed, an alternating current swept in frequency flows. If an instrument insert, for example the instrument insert 2 a, is now inserted into the handpiece, this alternating current has, due to the input impedance that is typical for the instrument insert 2 a, a frequency-dependent curve that is also typical for this instrument insert, and which via the output of the sensor device 39 of the evaluation device or electronics 41 is supplied. The value that this frequency-dependent current has at a specific frequency of the auxiliary generator 37 is determined in the evaluation device 41 and then passed on to the parameter memory 42 either directly as an identification signal or in the form of an identification signal guided by it. The parameter memory 42 has two memory levels 42 'and 42 ''. In the one storage level 42 'data records are stored, which were previously entered through the input field 43 and which in addition to the each instrument insert 2 a or 2 e associated identification signal (coding) also each contain those data (operating data) which the control required in each case of the instrument insert concerned (frequency and / or power of the main generator 36 , possibly additional modulation of the signal supplied by this generator, further equipment required for the operation of the instrument insert concerned, such as air, water, etc.).

Which this identification signal corresponding operational data in the memory plane 42 'is now in the manner described above direction from the Auswertein 41 an identification signal to the Parameterspei supplied cher 42, so are' also stored, so that subsequently in this with the memory plane 42 '' stored operating data on the one hand via the switching electronics 45 of the main generator 36 for emitting a control signal with the frequency and / or power required for controlling the instrument insert used in the handpiece 1 , and on the other hand also the switching logic 46 for switching over the switching electronics 38 . Provided that the operating data stored in the storage level 42 '' also provide a modulation or superimposition of the control signal supplied by the main generator 36 with a further signal, as is the case when using the instrument insert 2 b, the operating data stored in the storage level 42 '' also the modulator 44 started up or prepared.

If the foot switch 35 is then actuated, the main generator 36 is switched on via the switching electronics 45 and at the same time the switching electronics 38 are switched via the switching logic 46 , so that the output of the main generator 36 via the sensor device 39 and the line 8 with the 1 handpiece and is connected inductively via this with the respective instrument insert, for example with the instrument insert 2 a. Contain the operating data stored in the memory level 42 '' also the indication that the control signal supplied by the main generator 36 must be modulated or superimposed with another signal (in the case of using the instrument ten insert 2 b ), at the latest with the actuation of the Foot switch 35 and the modulator 44 set in operation.

If the foot switch 35 is released when the instrument insert is in the handpiece 1 , the switchover electronics 38 switches over to their output or measuring mode, since the identification signal corresponding to the instrument insert used is then still supplied to the parameter memory 42 by the evaluation device 41 the operating data is stored in the memory level 42 '', ie the control device 9 remains ready to be switched on.

Only when the instrument insert used hitherto, for example, the instrument insert 2 a is pulled out of the hand piece 1, so that the in the memory plane 42 '' 42 does not abut corresponding stored operating data identification signal at the input of the parameter memory more, are stored in the storage plane 42 ''Stored data deleted, ie this memory level is set to zero. The data records in the storage level 42 are of course retained here. If another instrument insert 2 a to 2 e is now inserted into the handpiece, the control device 9 is prepared again in the manner described for controlling this instrument insert.

With this preparation, given a corresponding number of stored data records in the storage level 42 ', it can also be taken into account whether the respective instrument set with or without the lamp tube 3 is used on the handpiece 1 , so that in this case it is also possible to at least refer to the main generator 36 adapt its performance to the presence or absence of the lamp tube 3 .

Should the input impedance of the instrument inserts 2 a to 2 e not be so markedly different due to the design of these instrument inserts that a typical identification signal can be derived from them in the manner described, it is basically also possible to use the rod-shaped parts 4 a to 4 e of the instrument inserts to provide marking elements 47 , each of which consists of a body, for example of a disk-shaped or conical body made of paramagnetic or ferromagnetic material, and through which there is a distinctive, different impedance on the coil 11 and 11 , respectively, when the instrument inserts are inserted into the handpiece 'Results. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 5, the marking element 47 is attached to the free end of the ferrite rod 21 facing away from the working end by gluing.
